How we got there?

Well, this was my 4th visit to Yercaud. I believe I have a strange connection to Yercaud. I just do not get bored of visiting Yercaud even though it’s a very small hill station with hardly many places to visit around. For me, the real charm of the place lies in its pleasant weather, easy accessibility from Bengaluru, quaintness, and solitude it offers as a not so crowded hill- station. The not so commercial tag of the place makes it even more compelling to visit. Yercaud is merely 4 to 5 hours of comfortable drive from Bengaluru. We started off early at around 7 AM and reached our hotel by 1 AM. The Bangalore- Salem Highway is smooth with lot of Dhabas and eateries on the way. If you are coming on a two-wheeler then I would certainly recommend taking a adventurous detour at Thibattipatti (small village) few kms before Salem City. I am sure this alternative scenic route will be worth remembering.

Pagoda Point 

Relishing spicy American sweet Corn and Shooting Balloons with Air Gun at Pagoda Point will make you reminiscent about your childhood days. One just cannot miss to capture the picturesque landscape of City of Salem from here as well. 

It would be ideal to visit this place early in the morning. Between 6: 30 to 8: 30 the weather will be pleasant and the drive to this place is scenic through the local village. The panoramic sunroof of our vehicle made the ride even more exhilarating. 

I did observe that few new homestays & eateries have popped up in the area. I see no harm in exploring these homestays to enjoy the sunrise and sunset. 

Infinity Pool @ Altitude Bar and Kitchen. 

Well, this is where you would want to relax and chill out and comfort yourself with good food after your drive. Don’t forget to order chilled beer with some good starters before you get lost in the charm and tranquility of Shevaroy Hills. The infinity pool facing the hills is a sheer visual treat. The place being an open area of the hotel stays windy and you may expect occasional drizzle. After your meal, you may want to plug in your earphone and tune in your favorite music or read your favorite book and indulge.

Finstreet and MoneyMatters club gives a platform to exploit the adroitness in money and capital market. It helps in understanding finer nuances of finance where a profound knowledgeof the subject is essential. Speak Up club helps an individual to overcome their inhibitions and hone their public speaking skill which makes him/her a more confident person. The clubs come up with regular events which is the outcome of group cohesiveness and teamwork. People work on a platform for a common goal thereby displaying solidarity and espirit de corps.The penchant for quizzing is satiated by club Gray matters and Ecobizz. Club Sankalp helps student identify their leadership trait which is the core value of an efficient manager. Club Prayas acts as a link to other Bschool activities and events assuring that IBS students never miss an opportunity to prove their mettle and talent in the premises of other B school. Club Samavesh brings new life to the festive moments and keeps the student close to their cultural and traditional values. Club Xpressionz plays a key role for students to fit the reality of world into their own with their educational plays having a subtle social message. The annual college fest “Trishna” incites competitiveness among clubs and strives them to work hard making them smarter and better. Certain development and learning cannot be done through theoretic learning and so co curricular learning is essential. Students have a right to broad education which makes them more pliable and more predisposed to handle contingencies. Through equal balancing of academic and co curriculum students have better prospects to be multitalented as mediocrity finds no place in present competitive scenario.

A Belligerent World

A passenger airliner carrying more than hundred civilians is blown down by a missile somewhere near Ukraine. Why? Because some revolt group treated it is a potential threat. The price those people on board had to pay because someone had a doubt in his mind about the authenticity of the plane being a passenger aircraft. A state of pandemonium on the Gaza strip with shells fired each day causing uncountable loss of life and property. Why? Because Palestinians and Jews want the strip of land which had been promised to them long back. Iraq and Syria are under the clutches of ISIS and numerous war crimes are committed under the name of establishment of an Islamic state. Even UN seems like a toothless watch dog and is no more than a spectator. Fight for sovereignty and to establish hegemony has gone so bitter that barbarity has reached its abject. The present scenario depicts how diabolical are our intentions and how are we reaching a new low every day. We see people justifying their malicious intent and giving justification for war crimes. How can they be audacious enough to treat the life of people as collateral damage? What good would be that promised piece of land (Gaza) if there would be no people left to live on it. How has ISIS been able to annex city after city undauntedly, committing atrocities wherever it has occupied. The beheading of a journalist and then broadcasting it in public to spread mass trepidation is a stigma on humanity. The resentment of Russia which it has been spawning for decades has resulted in annexation of Crimea. Actions have repercussions and the result is that entire area is now a warzone. The chaos seems never ending which has continued for generations. Sometimes one can really wonder that whether we have learnt any lesson from two world wars .The ongoing scenario favors the opinion that we haven’t evolved much and if the situation is not contained then this definitely harbingers another world war.
